Born and raised a NYC girl, my world almost came to an end when my parents decided to move our family to Long Island in my early teens. In return for moving to the suburbs, I requested a new bedroom set to seal the deal. What did I pick? Custom made, two-toned high gloss formica of course! Say what? It was the early 90s, it was cool, and best of all, it spoke to me. See, even at eleven I knew how important it was for my new room to feel like me.

My design choices have evolved since then and thankfully formica is nothing more than a distant memory. However, my design philosophy has remained the same:

A room should be an effortless reflection of who you are.

First design decision: Two-Toned High Gloss Formica
Let me explain...

About

Whatever the question, color is the answer.

A high gloss lacquer finish is always a design win.

Leopard, or any animal print, counts as a neutral.

Every room deserves a mix of old and new.

Fresh flowers are a must anywhere, anytime.

Thrift stores are better than shopping malls any day.

Your grandmother’s favorite vintage scarf can inspire any entire room.

Gingham is our love language.

Add an elephant for good luck and prosperity.

Vintage baubles work perfectly for styling a lamp base.

A tassel adds a touch of whimsy to any space.

Wallpaper, lots and lots of wallpaper.

Our Manifesto

She mixes her matches and experiments with color.

While my love for design is something that has always defined my personality, Effortless Style Interiors didn’t come to fruition until 2009. After years in the retail buying world, I finally decided to be a DOER and jumpstart a career in the field I loved: interior design.

I believe anyone can have a beautiful home, but what makes it beautiful is you. Your home shouldn’t look like a page out of a catalog or the set from a popular TV show. Your friends and family should be able to walk into your space and immediately feel comfortable because it reminds them of you. That’s what I do. I work with clients to create amazing spaces that are truly customized to their personality and style.

Personally, my design style is traditional with a twist. I love blending high- and low-end pieces by mixing thrift store and designer finds. I love interiors that feature classic pieces with unexpected bits of happiness and whimsy! And I love that my design style always makes people smile.

People see my style and are instantly inspired to tackle something in their own home. Whether it be swapping out white curtains for a bold color or going a little pattern crazy with pillows, design should be fun and an expression of who you are and what you love!

When I’m not working out of my design studio in Roslyn, NY you can find me hitting up thrift stores under the guise of treasure hunting to get my two boys and husband excited for shopping! My projects have been featured in Glitter Guide, Domino, HGTV, and The Everygirl.

ON THE BLOG

My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.

Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.

On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.

what they're saying

"Working with Camila was a dream."

"She truly took the time to help us nail down our style and execute the design plan to perfection. She was happy to explain all her choices and we feel like we got a mini design degree in the process! We can't wait to work with her on another project!"

- Julia, Port Washington

"Loved getting a professionals eye for all of the finishing touches."

"Since I was in the process of already decorating my home I didn't need the full service interior design experience. I loved using Camila's, Decorator on call services, I was able to get assistance on art selection, accessories and her workroom was amazing in fabricating my full wall of curtain panels!"

- Becca, NY

"My home is finally finished instead of just empty rooms."

"As a busy mom of two little toddlers, I really needed help in designing my home and making sure it could handle my family. Camila was a pro at sourcing items that can stand the test of sticky little hands. I can't wait to start designing my new nursery with Camila. That's right, this busy mom of two will now have three!"
